Ok Blog- here I am
September 18, 2009
I have been wild with my journey into marriage, a honeymoon, a new house, a trip to NYC and Burning Man and facilitating several events. Just did a business event for 14 folks in the Insurance business this past week and have a 6 person golf event on Sunday. My job is such a wild ride. Almost got smashed on my bike the other day. Downhill on an 8% grade super fast and a kid in a Subaru pulled out from a stop sign 20 feet in front of me, I slammed the brakes, started fish tailing and at around 40mph I went around him and shot the gap between him and another car which was coming uphill in the opposite direction. He caught up with me at a stop light down the hill, was hesitant to roll his window down but did and I mentioned “You know you almost killed me back there.” He said sorry. I’m certain he was very very stoned, as was his friend- a girl- in the passenger seat, and I have fantasies he will take this as a sign to stop getting high. One can dream

Life is all about timing…
July 23, 2009
So much has happened in the last couple of weeks.
We are now the official owners of our new home. First time in 14 years I’ve moved. A new home was something that I had not planned on finding or even looking for until after the wedding, but when it’s right, it’s right. We plan on hiring a half dozen movers to save our backs and souls.
The countdown to the wedding is 3 days away and I am surprisingly not too stressed. This has been such a magical time for me and I have been trying to take it all in. I am marring such a great guy. Costa Rica for the honeymoon.
Upon my return I have a high school reunion waiting for me as well as a trip to Burning Man. Maybe after that, I can finally breath normally.

Flipping Around…
July 21, 2009
I just finished up a 5-day spiritual event down the California coast with an amazing young woman, Charley. Charley is a ripping ski racer who has just graduated from high school and is taking a year off to race before college. Each day we explored a new ways of meditation. We even had a go on a flying trapeze. I was able to pull off my first flip to a catch, I’m so proud of myself. Charlie did a knee hang catch. I love that girl! We had an amazing journey.
Swine Flu?
June 8, 2009
Hello,
Springtime is here, wedding planning is taking up most of my time, and Big Mind is on the backburner. My next event is in Aspen at the end of the month, and until then I have been continuing the house search and dealing with swine flu. Yup, came down with what I thought was swine flu. I rushed to the hospital for examination. Much to my dismay, it was only food poisoning, something I have had multiple times before, how boring.

Hiking in the San Bernadino Mtns.
May 27, 2009
Morning!
I’m really excited to be here in California doing a few events. One event is with an individual who just had a difficult plane crash which left him partially paralyzed. The other event is a Hiking event with several guests. I plan to incorporate conscious bitch sessions and the voice of wonder, and maybe a Koan or two. “How do you stop the sounds of the world” is the Koan I want to explore, actually. Came to me just yesterday. The voice of wonder is also one I’ve never explored with a group, and it seems perfect while hiking. The Big Mind experience, a dialog developed by Genpo Roshi, whereby I ask to speak to different aspects of the self and we explore both the wisdom and the delusion found in that voice, is so fascinating. These people have no idea what they’ve signed up for and I’m feeling very ornery knowing they’re about to have their worlds rocked.

Summer is Here!
May 20, 2009
Hello,
Summer is here and I have big plans! Looking for a house and getting married, going to Costa Rica and Burning Man, I don’t know where to start. Although I do love winter, the long summer days allow for so much play time. It’s been difficult finding a house so far, wow are there so lousy houses for sale out there- we’ve looked at 70 so far. July 25th is the big day Kirk and I are getting married, in what will probably go down as Park City’s most-unruly wedding ever. Picture a Burning Man theme, with everyone in costumes. Our honeymoon is going to be in Costa Rica. Somewhere in between trips I’m planning out a new website design, and designing programs for next winter. Maybe I can relax in the fall? Uhm, naaah.

A Little About Me
May 12, 2009
Behold a blog about my life and the work I’m doing with regard to Ski to Live and wisdom sports facilitation! WHEW* I’ve been resisting the creation of this blog for awhile now- years. But it’s time…
I’m a unique kind of sports educator. For starters, my background: I come from the world of ‘extreme’ athletics and spent much of my adult life risking my own death for glory and excitement. I don’t make any apologies for this wild side or background, it was a hell of a ride, but I’m also so, so glad it’s over. Currently I love the Burning Man ethos and swear and dress according to whatever moves me and openly admit to my idiotic embarrassments (massive ego?). I also use sports to facilitate Zen Wisdom full time for a living, what a trip! I’m not religious in any way, although many of my clients are, and I can help them on their chosen path alongside their sports practice.

So- the goal of this blog is to put ideas out there for you to mull over about what sports may have taught you. Basically, I’m making spiritual practice funny and cool and sexy and progressive as hell and shockingly real and even…get this…applicable to real life.
My own life and struggles will slip in here naturally, and maybe you’ll find that appealing as well.
Anyway, more to come. Am hoping people will respond to my spew, get pissed off, challenge me, and I promise to challenge you too. If it ain’t controversial it ain’t worth reading…let’s see what kind of irreverence we can muster up in our need to be reverent…
Salt Lake City in Spring
May 11, 2009
Hello Everybody,
I’m excited to finally be blogging, and to be back in Salt Lake. I just returned from a week of kiteboarding in Texas, and it’s quickly becoming a favorite off-season sport for me. Summer is really fun, as I get to take the Ski to Live principles and apply them to other sports. For example I’m planning a trip to Southern California at the end of this month to host events in hiking, and a few privates with individuals. If someone wants to grab me for a day of Big Mind on the 27th or 28th I have a bit of time left in my schedule. I’ll be writing in during those days as well, to help bring everyone up to speed on what Big Mind is and what we are trying to accomplish. Thanks for reading and check back soon.

First Post
May 4, 2009
This is the first post, I hired someone to write it for me and it was weird. I stopped them and erased it. Strange days…
